One "thought experiment" in the recent - but not yet concluded - debate on freedom of speech surrounding the Charlie Hebdo massacre particularly impressed me:
In response to the Charlie Hebdo killings in Paris, the British Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles MP (pictured), wrote a letter to various Muslim 'community...
One of our supporters wrote to the Dean of Westminster last week asking why Westminster Abbey had flown the flag at half mast for King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Below is the reply she received.
The Paris attacks were shocking visually and emotionally, but we must be honest - a lot of people have been waiting for something like this to happen, sad as it is to say. This is what...
The jihadist attack on the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, a French magazine known for lampooning Islam, has cast a spotlight on so-called no-go zones in France and other European countries.
Question: How many liberals does it take to defend the West? Answer: No one knows, because it's never happened.
News arrives of yet another "Afghan soldier" shooting at NATO troops. This time the Afghan was the only casualty, but previously NATO soldiers have been killed (at least 60 last year) in such 'green on blue' attacks.
The death toll is but part of the picture. The U.S. has a policy of only announcing those attacks that are fatal. Attacks which wound but do not kill are excluded from bulletins, and there may be many for all we know.
Why are our troops being openly exposed to their murderers? The answer is wilful denial: wilful denial by commanders and politicians of Islam's doctrines. The added pain is that these are easily ascertainable. Islam's texts instruct Muslims to kill non-Muslims. Here is a sample:
Koran 9:5 "Kill Jews and Christians wherever you find them."
This is not simply a quaint and antiquated instruction from times past. The Koran is held to be "true from eternity to eternity" (Sam Solomon, former professor of Sharia law). To deny any verse in it is punishable by death (Manual of Islamic Law o8.7(7)). That death penalty can be inflicted by anyone without retaliation, because the offender is "someone who deserves to die" (Manual o8.4).
Many are the clerics and politicians who openly instruct killing of all Jews and Christians.
Ali Gomaa, grand mufti of Egypt, the highest Muslim religious authority in the world:
"Muslims must kill non-believers wherever they are unless they convert to Islam."
Citizen Warrior, October 2010
Selim Panni in Bangladesh casts Jews and Christians as evil and preaches killing them or raping female members of Jewish and Christian societies as a "divine task".
Tea and Politics, 24 November 2010
Ahmad Abu Halabiya, a Hamas MP and GMJ International Central Committee member:
"Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. Fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them."
Atlas Shrugs, 30 March 2012
"Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those (who say this) are witless. Islam says: kill all of the unbelievers as they would kill you all."
"A religion that does not include [provisions for] killing and massacre is incomplete. ... Killing is the same as mercy."
Abu Hafs Al-Masri Brigades, Madrid bombers who killed 202 commuters:
"Kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from where they have driven you out; for internal strife [Fitna] is worse than killing."
A further serious threat to allied troops is Islam's doctrine of "Permissible Lying" (Manual r8.2). Under this doctrine it is completely permissible for a Muslim to lie to and deceive a non-Muslim in the cause of Islam. Thus one fatal attack happened in September 2012 when an Afghan feigned injury to take two British soldiers off their guard: it was successful, and he shot them dead. "War is deceit", said Mohammed, who authorised his followers to lie. The doctrine has an Arabic name, taqiyya.
Hear an American congressman, Air Force veteran Rep. Rick Womick of Tennessee. He maintains that Muslims should be barred from serving in the U.S. military:
Personally, I don't trust one Muslim in our military because they're commanded to lie to us through the term called Taqiyya. And if they truly are a devout Muslim, and follow the Quran and the Sunnah, then I feel threatened because they're commanded to kill me.
Thus does an American congressman articulate what every allied soldier probably thinks, but is prevented from saying by the attitude of wilful denial imposed by politicians and senior commanders.
Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch maintains that President Obama and senior military commanders should be impeached for wilfully placing American troops at risk of murder in these situations, by blindly adhering to a policy that anyone can see is fatally flawed.
For every British politician or senior commander who supports this policy here is the challenge: let him stand forward, in the knowledge of the doctrines set out above, and go out into the mountain country with an Afghan trainee policeman CARRYING A LOADED GUN. I would not volunteer. Our brave men are COMMANDED to go: they are not permitted to disobey. Wilful denial is killing them.
