There is no doubt (at least to those that shun political correctness) that the Koran is the driving force behind such Islamic terrorist organizations as the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, ISIS, al Nusra, Hamas, Hezbollah and CAIR. In fact (considering the utter barbarity and cunningness of these groups) it wouldn't be hyperbolic in the least to call the Koran: Satan's handbook.
Such Islamo-thugs as Hezbollah strongman Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and the declared caliph of ISIS Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi have quoted from the Koran numerous times to justify their acts of unhinged savagery. From the wholesale slaughter of "pigs" and "infidels" to the rape and torture of children, these devout Muslims have committed the unfathomable while reciting Koranic passages.
Sura 9:5 (referred to as "The Verse of the Sword") is the most widely quoted passage by the above mentioned groups and their leaders: "... slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush."
And, of course, whenever this passage is pointed out by critics of Islam as a frequent motivator for Islamic terrorism, liberals shrill that Islam has been "perverted" and "hijacked" by a bunch of "extremists."
But if this passage has been "perverted" and "hijacked" as liberals (and even some conservatives) stridently claim, how do they explain away the historical fact that Mohammed (both Islam's founder and the Koran's author) loved to "slay," "besiege," and "ambush" "idolaters?"
(Yes, even as this is being written - we are still waiting for an explanation.)
In fact, history tells us that Mohammed (subsequent to the Battle of the Trench in 627 AD) oversaw the mass beheading of no less than 900 men (and boys). The victims - to no great surprise - were adherents of a religion that Mohammed (and the Koran) viciously condemned: Judaism.
But let's be honest; Sura 9:5 is but the tip of the Islamic iceberg when it comes to violent Koranic passages. There are at least 160 installments found in the Koran that advocate jihad (including 8:12 which demands the act of decapitation).
(And considering the fact that these passages are prescriptive rather than descriptive, they are all the more dangerous.)
From 9/11 to the San Bernardino terror attack, the Koran has been the single motivating factor for the annihilation of thousands. And despite the sycophantic musings of then President George W. Bush - who (while Ground Zero was still burning) stated that "Islam's teachings are good and peaceful" - patriotic and informed Americans know better.
God save Western Civilization from Satan's handbook (and its sycophants).
